How it ended The Massacre stopped in January 1938. The Japanese ordered all of the refugees in the safety zone to return home. Japan told them that order had been restored. Over a period of time, atrocities of Japanese troops had gone down extensively.

What Happened After everyone began to settle back down the Japanese Ministry of Education changed the facts of World War II in their history textbooks, the government made convicted Class A war criminals seem like they were national heroes and gave them glory, and high ranking Japanese officials publicly denied the occurrence of the Nanjing Massacre. Japanese Government had good control over the news media during the War and
the Japanese civilians didn’t know about the truth of the Nanjing Massacre or other crimes committed by the Japanese Military Force. The Japanese soldiers were always described as heroes. November 10th, 1990- During a protest by Chinese Americans against the Japanese actions in Diao-Yu-Tai Island, the Deputy Japanese Consul in Houston said that according to Japanese sources, the Nanjing Massacre never happened. |
